Smart School Tracking was created to solve a real problem in Scottish secondary schools: tracking and monitoring systems are often slow, rigid and difficult to use.
Smart School Tracking was founded by Stephen Stewart, currently a Depute Head Teacher at Lochaber High School in the Highlands.
Before moving into school leadership, Stephen spent years as a Computing Science teacher. During that time, he experienced firsthand the daily frustration of dealing with slow, clunky, and rigid legacy software that felt like a compliance exercise rather than a support tool.
Driven by a desire to build a high-performance system that works beautifully for classroom teachers and school leaders, Stephen designed Smart School Tracking to replace outdated legacy platforms with a fast, modern tracking tool that educators can use quickly and confidently. Traditional tracking software focuses on data compliance, creating massive teacher workloads without offering real insights. We believe software should serve educators, not the other way around.
Smart School Tracking is designed around the actual workflows of Scottish schools: BGE levels, Senior Phase attainment, SEEMiS imports, and parent reporting.
By reducing data entry time down to under 90 seconds for a full class, auto-mapping course structures, and offering flexible grading headers, we give teachers back their most valuable resource: time to teach.
